14 October 2008 –YELLOW MUMS –28″x22″ Oil on Belgian Linen. Here is the first underpainting of my winter work. It’s raining today — chilly, cold — know it’s snowing on Taos Mountain…..Just thought I’d start out with something bright and cheerful. The colors are mixed with fast-drying Foundation White — highlights on the flowers – Cadmium Yellow Light, then Cad. Yellow Medium – down to Ochre and then a dirty brush mixed with Diox. Purple. The background is Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre and Cobalt Blue. This canvas will have to dry for about ten days before I can work into it with the glazes. Stay tuned! — DC
